Sarita Handa, renowned globally for its opulent home luxury offerings, has inaugurated its sixth store in the upscale Banjara Hills neighborhood of Hyderabad. The expansive 5,000 square feet double-storey boutique, housed in a former hotel, diverges from conventional showrooms by presenting an immersive and interactive retail experience. Showcasing a meticulously curated range of furnishings, decor collectibles, furniture, and precious objets d’art, the showroom emanates the brand’s signature grandeur with understated luxury.
Breaking away from traditional showroom norms, the space is designed by Amith Chhabra of Studio LCD, a longstanding collaborator of Sarita Handa. Chhabra imbued the store with a modern-classic aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the Indo-Islamic architecture of Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar. The double-height glass facade leads visitors into an inviting foyer adorned with a marble monolith front desk and a striking Charminar artwork by artist Arrti Mansinghka, created using fabric scraps to convey a message of heritage and environmental preservation.
The store’s interior design incorporates grand arches reminiscent of Charminar, with delicate flute details providing a modern classic twist. Conceptualized as immersive spaces resembling bedrooms, living areas, and dining rooms, each section narrates a distinct story while showcasing Sarita Handa’s signature style through a lavish array of sofas, side tables, art objects, rugs, and the brand’s renowned cushions.
A noteworthy feature is the extraordinary pinkish-orange copper-clad, hand-hammered staircase leading to the first floor, creating a visually stunning focal point. The first floor boasts a cluster of suspended globe lights on a double-height ceiling, enhancing the luminosity and splendor of the store.
Founder and Creative Director, Mrs. Sarita Handa, expressed the brand’s inspiration drawn from Hyderabad’s architectural heritage, rich craftsmanship history, and its evolution into an IT hub. The new store aligns seamlessly with the brand’s ethos, providing a haven for those seeking sophisticated and luxurious home decor.
