Masti Cocktails & Cuisine, known for its fusion of Indian-inspired cuisine with contemporary flair, has undergone a remarkable transformation as it relocates to The Dubai Edition Hotel. Under the creative vision of Studio Lotus designers Asha Sairam, Neelam Das, and Rushali Malhotra, the restaurant has undergone a stunning transformation. With a keen eye for detail, the new space effortlessly marries the charm of its original location with innovative design features. Guests can anticipate a dining experience that seamlessly combines Indian-inspired cuisine with contemporary twists, promising to leave a lasting impression.
The transition from its original location in La Mer, Dubai, to The Dubai Edition Hotel has been marked by a thoughtful approach to reuse and repurposing. The restaurant’s award-winning design, which initially captivated diners in 2016, has been carefully preserved, drawing on cultural influences and the vibrancy of Indian aesthetics.
Retaining spatial markers such as custom-designed furniture and lighting, the new location embraces familiarity while introducing innovative features to enhance the overall atmosphere. Three distinct dining zones define the experience, including an experiential dining area, a central space anchored by the bar, and alfresco seating offering breathtaking city views.
One of the most striking design elements is the transformation of the entrance corridor, which transitions guests from a narrow passageway into the expansive restaurant space. Mirrored reflections and vibrant Kriska chainmail create an illusion of space, offering a surreal entry experience.
The heart of the restaurant lies in its open kitchen, now adorned with amber-yellow glass bricks reminiscent of Indian tandoor embers. A repurposed gin screen serves as a portal to the bar area, featuring a stained-glass elephant sculpture and a rotovap machine encased within a cabinet of curiosities, adding a touch of spectacle to the dining experience.
In a departure from conventional design trends, Masti Cocktails & Cuisine has opted for minimal new interventions, instead focusing on repurposing existing elements such as flooring, furniture, and lighting. The result is a space that challenges the notion of luxury, showcasing Studio Lotus’ commitment to sustainability and innovation.
