Unique gifts for Ayodhya temple – a feast for the senses

The special gifts received by the Ram temple in Ayodhya even before the consecration ceremony on January 22 are a 2,100-kg unique ‘Ashtadhatu’ bell, a 108-foot-long incense stick weighing 3,610 kg, 500 kg Nagada from Gujarat,India adorned with layers of gold and silver, 1,100 kg giant panchadhatu lamp, gold plated footwear, World’s largest handmade lock at 10-foor weighing a hefty 400 kg and a clock which simultaneously denotes time in eight countries.

 Gifts from Janakpur Dham Ramjanaki Temple

More than 3,000 gifts including silver shoes, ornaments and clothes for Lord Ram from Sita’s birthplace in Janakpur Dham Ramjanaki Temple in Nepal to Ayodhya have been gifted. Janakpur, has been recognized as the maternal home of Mother Sita and Lord Ram’s ‘in-laws’ place to make special contributions.

 Ram temple also received a special gift from Ashok Vatika carried by the Sri Lankan delegation.

The main bell weighing 2,100 kg made of ‘ashtadhatu’ (an alloy of eight metals — gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead, tin, iron and mercury) costing ₹  25 lakh has been prepared in Etah’s Jalesar in Uttar Pradesh. This exquisite bell, unique in its single piece crafting, is one of the largest bells in India and took a diverse team of approximately 30 skilled workers two years to prepare.  This was meticulously processed using components for shaping and measuring, a wooden template was used for the mould, special preparation for the metal, tuning, grinding and fitting of the clapper. The bell measuring an impressive 6 feet in height and 5 feet in width will produce a resonant sound which will be audible within a two- km radius.

Besides this 48 bells were manufactured by 20 artisans in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district; The dimensions of each bell vary from 620 kg bearing the inscription ‘Jai Sriram’,  5 bells each weigh 120 kg, six bells are at a weight of 70 kg each, and one bell weighs just 25 kg. These are made from copper and bronze.

A 108-foot-long incense stick has been prepared in Gujarat’s Vadodara, this weighs 3,610 kg and with a width of almost 3.5 feet,. The stick is was prepared over a six-month period using environmentally friendly ingredients like 376 kg guggul (gum resin), 376 kg coconut shells, 190 kg ghee, 1,470 kg cow dung, 420 kg herbs. Once burnt it is claimed to last for about one-and-a-half months with its fragrance spreading over 50 kms.

The Nagada a symbol of Hindu culture, is huge weighing 500 kg. It has been prepared to withstand exposure to sunlight and rain without damage, and is adorned with layers of gold and silver. It has been constructed in the Daryapur extension of Karnavati metropolis, Gujarat by the people of the Dabgar community using iron and copper plates.  It’s sound will be heard for a distance of a kilometre.

Vadodara devotee crafts 1,100 kg panchadhatu lamp

A devotee from Vadodara has meticulously crafted a 1,100 kg lamp Panchadhatu (gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron) for placement in the Ram temple. This lamp, standing at 9.25 feet in height and 8 feet in width, has a capacity for 851 kg of ghee.

A locksmith hailing from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has prepared – a 400 kg lock designed exclusively for the forthcoming Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This weighs 400 kg with 10 feet height, 4.6 feet width and a formidable thickness of 9.5 inches. A four-foot key accompanies this grand masterpiece. This is the world’s largest handmade lock and key, gifted it to be used as a symbolic lock at the temple which has been conceived with the Ram Temple’s essence embedded deep within its design.

Khadaun ‘charan paduka’ made using 8 kg silver

A 64-year-old man from Hyderabad embarked on a 7,200-kilometre padayatra to Ayodhya, carrying gold-plated Khadaun ‘charan paduka’ (footwear) made using 8 kg silver and got it coated with gold. He is retracing the Ayodhya-Rameswaram route, mirroring Lord Rama’s ‘Vanavas’ (exile) journey while stopping at Shiva Lingas established by Lord Ram along the way.

A necklace on the theme of the Ram Temple was made by a diamond merchant in Surat using over 5,000 American diamonds, 2 kgs of silver and gold. 40 skilled artisans 35 days to carefully carve the sculptures of Lord Ram, Hanuman, Sita, Lord Lakshman in addition to the Royal Court. This will be gifted to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.  

TTD to send one lakh laddu for distribution to devotees

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the official custodian of Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati will send one lakh laddu for distribution among devotees.


7000kg Ram Halwa for Ram Mandir Consecration

Chef Vishnu Manohar from Nagpur chef has an ambitious project of preparing 7,000kg of Ram Halwa for the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. 

A special saree prepared for Ma Janaki

A special saree made in Gujarat’s Surat city for Lord Ram’s wife Sita (reverentially known as Ma Janaki) has printed pictures of Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple will be offered to the temple authorities.
