Projects submission for  Tubądzin Design Awards starts from March 1. The current year is the fourth edition of the competition. It is guided by the idea of designing to meet global challenges, which is reflected in an additional, special competition category – CULTURE FORM.

Cycling in general is now gaining speed, in some countries it’s not only a leisure transport, but a way of life (think of The Netherlands and Denmark). But extending out of these two countries, we see that cycling is in general increasing, it is no longer only “ride to the city”, but even more, ride to a different country, or ride across my own country. Technology allows us to travel quicker, faster and in relative comfort compared to bikes that were used 20-30 years ago. So this year it was decided to focus on cyclists.

To create a complex for cyclist travellers for a short stopover or even an overnight stay. The complex should have a bicycle repair area, a cafe or fast-food restaurant, accommodation (hostel and private type), and sanitary facilities for both passing cyclists and those staying overnight in hostel rooms.

Registration: January 31, 2023

Language: English

Location: Worldwide

Type: Open

Construction is the most obvious reward for an architectural project, but very often in order to make things buildable, architects have to sacrifice innovation and creativity and surrender to business as usual. Non Architecture launches an award to honour those projects that didn’t take that approach and are unbuilt and unbuildable, either because they were designed to stay as such, or because their innovative charge brought them into the realm of the impractical.Since the idea is to reward the innovative and experimental character with an award, organised in 3 categories – Architecture & Interiors, Urban & Landscape, and Aspatial & Virtual.

By recognizing remarkable achievements in architecture, highlight exemplary projects that serve as inspiration for practitioners. Equally important, these awards elevate the potential for the positive impact that an exploratory approach in architecture has on the future of the profession.

Language: English

Location: Mars

Type: Open

The participants are encouraged to come up with a visionary concept for life in a scenario where cities, or even individuals, are energy independent – only 2 drawings, absolute freedom of scale, program or site.

The world is experiencing the first truly global energy crisis in history. Non-renewable energy is highly polluting, and comes from sources that will run out or will not be replenished in our lifetimes – or even in many, many lifetimes – to power our increasingly industrialised society. The challenges faced by the renewable energy industry are many. Political pressures, government policies, corporate influence, age-old infrastructure, lack of proper battery storage system, and present market scenario stand in the way of a wider adoption worldwide.

Participants are asked to propose conceptual ideas for a scenario where there’s no global energy grid and cities, buildings, units or single individuals, have to be fully energy independent, either through renewable energies or creative new ways of producing and storing it.
