In the heart of Indirapuram, amidst the hum of a residential block, a once-ordinary apartment has been transformed into the vibrant creative hub for one of India’s most popular indie bands, Twinstrings. Known for their soulful renditions of popular songs and original music, the band’s new studio is a striking fusion of cutting-edge audio technology and an innovative design aesthetic that perfectly captures their dynamic energy and reputation. The space reflects their artistic essence while offering a seamless environment for music creation.
One of the most captivating aspects of this studio is its bold choice of a singular, rich charcoal palette that wraps the entire space. Accentuated by wooden elements, this deep, moody hue creates a cohesive visual identity throughout the studio. It sets the stage for the band’s vibrant creativity, acting as a neutral yet striking backdrop that allows their music to shine. This deliberate design decision by Kuntal Vyas Aggarwal fosters a sense of unity and sophistication, offering the perfect canvas for the band’s artistic expression.
The design of the studio posed a unique challenge—how to conquer the elusive problem of sound bleeding. The space needed to ensure the highest quality of sound without interference from external noise. The solution? A complex yet expertly executed approach to soundproofing. The studio’s foundation includes sound-isolated flooring and an aluminum grid ceiling, reinforced with foam insulation. Exterior walls were fortified with double-layered windows and cavity walls, creating a 4-inch thick shield against unwanted vibrations.
Internally, the design boasts an intricate layering system within the recording room, consisting of cavity walls, glass wool framing, perforated ply sheets, and fabric quilting. These nine layers work in harmony to form a symphony of soundproofing, ensuring that no external noise disturbs the sanctity of the music being made.
Bucking the traditional studio design trend of corporate formality, this space is designed with an informal, creative vibe that reflects the essence of Twinstrings. The black aluminum grid ceiling contrasts beautifully with the oakwood-colored flooring, creating a dynamic and inspiring atmosphere. Cable trays and gutters discreetly line the periphery, ensuring that the studio remains clutter-free during jam sessions, while diffused profile lighting casts an ethereal glow, enhancing the space’s ambiance.
This lighting setup also serves as a dynamic backdrop for the band’s performances, live broadcasts, and recordings. The space strikes the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics, ensuring that every element contributes to the overall creative atmosphere.
Functionality is key in a space where creativity flows freely, and the studio’s design ensures seamless transitions between zones. A bifold sliding aluminum door separates the meeting room, providing both privacy and the flexibility to open up the space for impromptu performances. Sheer curtains divide areas with subtle, intimate warmth, while wooden blinds in the pantry area and meeting room serve a dual purpose—enhancing the aesthetic while absorbing stray noise.
The studio also features versatile seating options and state-of-the-art recording equipment, which are thoughtfully integrated into the design. These elements blend effortlessly into the space, enhancing both functionality and style. Meanwhile, the decor and carefully curated artwork reflect the band’s unique flair, adding a personalized touch that makes the studio truly feel like home for Twinstrings.
More than just a recording studio, this creative hub is a seamless blend of sound engineering and intentional design. Every inch of the space is meticulously crafted to support Twinstrings’ creative vision, setting a new standard for how music and design can come together. The studio transcends the typical—here, function and form exist in perfect harmony. The walls themselves seem to become an extension of the music-making process, resonating with the rhythm and energy of creativity.
