The GIHED (Gujarat Institute of Housing and Estate Developers) House is set in an urban landscape of Metro city Ahmedabad. The corporate HQ of Gujarat Institute of Housing and Estate Developers is developed as a workspace for 50 employees. The corporate house is sprawled in 40,000 sq ft. serves the purpose of encouraging interaction between the estate developer and the people outside their community. A circular module at the approach, revolved open containing banquets halls and conference rooms that rise up to three floors. The first floor contains a 400 seater auditorium for the public and a seminar hall, while the third floor contains cabinets and open workstations for its employees.
The building encompasses a functionality that opens in a public forum and generates a discourse with the community along with the corporate feel. The ground floor of the space ensembles a central zone for public interaction with an open amphitheatre. Long cluster of foldable modules of informal areas with waiting lounges, display area and other views of the site. The banquet hall and conference room are surrounded by a circular module for transition between the spaces that rise up to the third floor. The first floor has a 400 seater auditorium and seminar hall while the last floor workstations, wrapped with cabinets.
As the structure is formulated around two service blocks, the space around these blocks uses wall coverage of only 8% rather than 12%. The members of the structure form rectangular openings that provide ease in exterior envelopes. This has been made possible through Vierendeel trusses.
The effective planning in the interior provides an interrupted view feeling completely immersed in nature. Keeping in mind the environmental solutions, the building takes the idea of the green building a step further making it the first turquoise building. Modern and independent, Industrial yet green structure that reflects the ideologies of beholder and the designer as well. It would also set a fine example of high tech with facilities yet low in maintenance confluencing with the openess.
