In the heart of Hyderabad, where the pulse of modern urbanity meets the whispers of a rich cultural past, Terrai by Sona Reddy Studio emerges as a defining landmark in experiential dining. This 8,500-square-foot culinary destination is more than a restaurant—it is an artful intersection of architecture, heritage, and gastronomy, where every detail tells a story of Telangana’s deep-rooted traditions reinterpreted through contemporary design.
A Vision Rooted in the Terrain of Telangana

From its inception, Terrai was imagined as a cultural journey—a place where diners could experience the region’s essence beyond the plate. The clients envisioned an immersive space where traditional craftsmanship and modern aesthetics would coalesce to form a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Sona Reddy Studio, known for its narrative-driven approach, embraced this vision with a thoughtful design that honors the land, its people, and their stories.
Design that Engages All Senses

Terrai’s design is a celebration of materiality, texture, and form. The space unfolds in a symphony of tactile and visual experiences, each element carefully chosen to reflect Telangana’s artistic heritage. Ikat-inspired flooring in black granite and Kota stone forms a rhythmic foundation, while walls in terracotta-textured paint exude warmth and authenticity. The interplay of wood, stained glass, metal, and Dokra-inspired details enriches the space with depth and storytelling.
A striking blue metal door with ikat-inspired handles serves as the perfect prologue to what lies within. Inside, abstract stained glass windows cast dynamic patterns of color and light, echoing Telangana’s vibrant artistic spirit. The Bathukamma-inspired lighting fixtures, monumental in scale, become sculptural focal points, illuminating the space with an ethereal glow.
A Multi-Layered Experience

Nestled on the ground floor of a bustling high-rise, Terrai transforms its urban setting into an inviting sanctuary. The layout is meticulously crafted to offer a variety of spatial experiences—from the grand central dining hall to the intimate private dining rooms with gold ceilings and stretched fabric lights. The outdoor seating, enclosed by a dynamic metal grid, seamlessly blends nature with architecture, allowing for a sense of openness while maintaining exclusivity.
A Testament to Artisanal Excellence

Terrai’s every detail bears the mark of skilled artisans and master craftsmen. From custom furniture and lighting to Narahari artworks framed in Dokra metal, the project is a testament to the power of collaboration and indigenous artistry. The result is a space that bridges the past and the present, creating a timeless experience.
A Culinary and Cultural Destination
At Terrai, dining is not just about food—it is about immersing in a cultural narrative, where architecture, art, and cuisine come together in harmony. Whether seated beneath the maximalist ikat checkered ceiling or admiring the intricate stained glass details, visitors are enveloped in a space that evokes memory, tradition, and innovation.
In crafting Terrai, Sona Reddy Studio has created more than a restaurant—it has given Hyderabad a living, breathing tribute to the soul of Telangana.
