The recent project designed by Ar. Serhii Makhno of Sergey Makhno Architects is 15 meters deep house from the ground. The project provides comfortable living for two or three families with children and staff with their families. If necessary, the project can be redesigned for a much larger number of people in the future.
The entrance resembles a museum of modern art, or to a military base. Created in a simple and concise form, it speaks of reliability & aesthetic that lets you be both on the ground and from the air.
The substantial concrete structure is designed with three entrances and a helipad on the roof. The main building mass is reinforced in concrete, which is the strongest duo, which is automatic & also has the option of manual control. Next to the entrance to the bunker is a disinfection shield, made behind it.
The main spiral staircase and elevator lead to the underground building, as well as to two flights of spiral staircases for staff and loading stocks. These are made in such a way so that there should be no interference with each other.
The living room has a large sofa like it is in a cozy metropolitan apartment with a window that gives an outside view with daylight.
Opposite the bed, there is a stone garden, which ends with a highly sensitive screen-window, the view of which can be changed at a touch of a button on the control panel of the Smart Home system. Moreover, provision is provided to “open” the window and feel a light breeze or a smell of freshly cut grass.
A lot of attention to the areas for sports, recreation, and recovery has been given. The pool area is separated from the general sports zone by a screen and due to lighting it strongly differs in the mood. There is no daylight in the pool & the main source of light here is greenish lighting at the bottom of the pool. Its Bluish walls, gives you the feel of islands of “earth”. The area of exercise bikes is filled with the same drive of disco halls: lighting and acoustics are appropriate.
A library has been designed where you get the piracy with many facilities that give you utmost pleasure. A cinema with comfortable chairs, powerful acoustics, a 5D system has been provided.
A separate room is made, where one can grow vegetables and some fruits & to the store the food, a separate room is made on the living floor. Also, the designer provided a separate room for medical care with an isolator and a closed area for storing stocks of medicines.
It has three exits, and the fire-resistant evacuation “ring” that can be reached from almost anywhere, even in the event of danger inside the bunker. All systems in the underground building are autonomous. Water supply, sewerage, closed ventilation system with recuperation, intake, and air purification exist as similar it exists on earth.
From the outside, it looks like a pie. Going down the “pie” it has the layers of living space, a floor with a water treatment system and generator a layer of electrical equipment & well at the bottom.
The project has a reflection of the continuation of human life under any circumstances & an attempt to find an answer to the question of whether architecture can create the impression of life at the surface while being in its depths, says Architect Serhii Makhno.
