What does it take to create a home entirely swathed in white without it feeling stark or sterile? The answer unfolds in the 3,700 sq. ft. residence ‘Lunar Horizon’ in North Bengaluru, where the interplay of textures, sculptural elements, and nuanced tones brings depth and warmth to a seemingly simple palette.
Designed collaboratively by Deepti M of Studio Dhi and Yoshitha V K of Studio Advaya, the residence reflects the creative synergy between the two architects. “Our clients, a young IT couple, sought a home that emanates serenity yet retains a touch of expressive luxury,” shares Deepti. The result is a seamless integration of contemporary restraint with a dynamic visual narrative.
Upon entry, the eye is naturally guided by the slender barrel vaults overhead, drawing attention to a serene Buddha sculpture at the far end. This transitional space sets the tone for what follows—a home where form and function coalesce harmoniously.
The living area, bathed in natural light, embraces sculptural silhouettes and a refined material palette. Bespoke sinuous furniture contrasts against textured paint, while a rugged stone panel lends an organic depth. The coffee tables’ marble surface echoes the hues of the TV backdrop, visually tying the elements together. Sustainability was a priority—leftover marble and stone panels were repurposed in the foyer, reinforcing continuity.
The dining area balances elegance with warmth, where champagne-toned chairs encircle an onyx table accented with brushed gold. Adjacent, a bar-cum-crockery unit framed by a Roman arch and tinted glass injects a sense of timeless sophistication.
The kitchen continues the home’s sculptural language, its pristine white surfaces softened by a quartz island countertop designed to foster engagement. PU-finished cabinets and fluted glass shutters amplify the airiness, while a marble-clad puja unit at the rear serves as a quiet sanctuary within the heart of the home.
The home office optimizes its positioning, offering unobstructed views of the lake. A streamlined wardrobe doubles as a polished backdrop for virtual meetings, while an open shelving unit in monochrome introduces a refined contrast. The rugged rock wall behind the desk adds an unexpected organic touch, reinforcing the theme of materiality.
Each bedroom carries its own identity while remaining rooted in tranquility. The master suite, wrapped in taupe suede velvet, exudes understated luxury, punctuated by soft pink accents.
The secondary master bedroom, influenced by the husband’s affinity for grey, showcases layered textures across upholstered walls, furnishings, and drapery.
In the guest bedroom, wooden flutes and marble interlace to craft a timeless focal point.
Eclectic light fixtures and curated accessories sourced from small businesses lend character to every corner. “Each piece was deliberately chosen to add a unique voice to the space,” shares Deepti.
In ‘Lunar Horizon,’ the quest for an all-white sanctuary unfolds as a symphony of subtlety and urbane qualities, where every element is a brushstroke on a canvas of pure, refined beauty.
