Calcada House is located in Vila de Paraiso in the north of Portugal. Since the 18th century, buildings exist in this area. The house is refurbished to serve as a residence and guesthouse. The designer rebuilt the entrance gate, which has an impressive approach path under grapevine trellis, which leads to an extended part of the house with an entrance hall and a bedroom.
The ground floor of the main house is assigned to public space like the living room or office and private space such as bedroom or bathroom occupy the second floor.
The main house has cross shape plan with the stair hall in the center. The entertainment space is located on the north side, the entrance hall is on the east side, the office is on the south side, and the living room and kitchen area on the west side of the stair hall at the ground floor level. The second floor has a master bedroom, bathroom, and closet on the north side, bedrooms are on the east side and south side.
Grass garden is built on the north side of the house and a courtyard under grapevine at the south divides the living room with wide windows. The living room has wooden trusses and has a fireplace and a kitchen on both ends. There are laundries, wine cellar, wine storeroom, guest rooms, and gym in the annex building.
The Guesthouse has 2 floors connected by a stairwell, with a living room, dining room, and kitchen on the ground floor. The second floor has a bedroom and a bathroom. The annex building of the Guesthouse contains a changing room for the swimming pool, a bathroom, and tool storage to maintain the garden with an exterior kitchen.
