CP Kukreja Architects Design New Cultural Centre for Serendip Arts Foundation

The Serendipity Arts Foundation has announced that the design for their new cultural center in Delhi, called “The Brij”, will be created by the renowned Indian architecture practice CP Kukreja Architects along with the London-based Crab Studio. The announcement was made at the foundation’s ongoing arts festival in Panaji, Goa.

The Brij is designed to be an immersive experience that allows for collaborations between artists and visitors. The museum wants to create opportunities for discussion, promote the exchange of ideas, and inspire those who engage with the arts on a more personal level.

“The project is called a ‘The Brij’ because it is very different from the traditional idea of a museum,” says Dikshu C. Kukreja, Managing Principal at CP Kukreja Architects. ” Apart from housing art displays, it will be home to the artistic processes that simultaneously expand and renew our engagement with multiple histories, presents and futures. Spaces such as flexible indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces, performance areas, and an artisan village will bring art to the people.”

The Brij will also support the arts ecosystem by offering residencies and opportunities for cultural and artistic exchanges, resembling a quasi-university. Furthermore, it will activate and improve Delhi-NCR’s urban milieu by enhancing its social, cultural, and economic standing.
