A home to approximately 9 million people which is roughly the same as the population of the city, will be graced with a 170-km long mirrored Skyscraper called the Line, reveals the Saudi Arabian authorities. It is located in northwest Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea and is part of the larger Neom project. The total height of the building would be 1640ft which is almost as tall as the tallest building in the US and the total width of just 656ft.

The mirrored skyscraper is a bigger take on Google’s concept of Landscraper -a tower turned on its side. The mirrored finish of the skyscraper is not an ideal choice in a hot desert but the idea behind is to blend it with the surroundings. The layout of the building will include stacked parks, schools, and homes above each other. The Line will be constructed on a footprint of 34 sq km, which is not usually built when compared to cities with similar capacity. This will reduce the infrastructure footprint and create new and efficient functions in the city.

The Line incorporates a new approach called Zero Gravity urbanism which simplifies as the layering of city functions vertically while providing the possibility for people of moving seamlessly in three dimensions. The basic amenities are included in the design to ensure that everything is within a five-minute reach of the inhabitants.

Adding to one more unique feature of this project, it will function on 100 percent renewable energy. The HRH crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman revealed the concept of this construction but no expected construction date or completion deadline has been announced. The prince is dedicated to transforming his country from an Oil-dependent economy into a tourist-friendly one.
