Situated in the upscale neighborhood of Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, Harmony House is a 15,000 sq ft residence designed as a sanctuary for a multi-generational family. It reflects the family’s deep-rooted values, evolving lifestyles, and shared memories. The architects approached this project as a collaboration, ensuring the final design resonated with the family’s aspirations and way of life.
Accommodating four generations under one roof, the residence balances private retreats with communal spaces that encourage interaction and togetherness. The design goes beyond conventional layouts, creating an environment that adapts to the changing dynamics of a growing family while preserving intimacy and warmth.
Designing for multiple generations comes with its own set of challenges—primarily, how to maintain privacy while fostering family connections. The architects meticulously planned the layout to ensure individual spaces remained personal while still being visually connected to shared areas. The result is a home that seamlessly blends comfort, tradition, and modern sensibilities.
The house spans six levels, including a basement, stilt parking, a ground floor, three upper floors, and a terrace—each offering a distinct experience. It features eight bedrooms, ten bathrooms, two living-dining areas, a kitchen with two pantries, an entertainment hall, a pooja room, and dedicated quarters for household staff. Every space is designed with purpose, ensuring both functionality and elegance.
The journey into Harmony House begins at a grand double-height foyer, setting the stage for the home’s sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. At its heart is a triple-height atrium, an airy, open gathering space overlooking the dining area and kitchen. The strategically placed staircases and corridors allow sweeping views across different levels, reinforcing a sense of openness while maintaining clear divisions between private and communal spaces.
The ground floor acts as the hub of the home, where family members come together. A striking double-height dining area serves as the nucleus, featuring pendant lighting and bursts of color that add energy and vibrancy. Next to it, a plush living room exudes warmth with its rich textures, metallic details, and neutral-toned backdrop. A bar area and a cozy family lounge complete the floor, offering spaces for both casual and celebratory gatherings.
Descending into the basement, the mood shifts to a more indulgent and social setting. Here, an entertainment space with a bar, lounge, and additional dining area brings in elements of European luxury—wall molding, dark wood finishes, and statement chandeliers adding a touch of drama.
The upper floors house the bedrooms, each reflecting the personality of its occupant. From playful, themed rooms for the youngest family members to refined, serene spaces for the elders, every room is a thoughtfully designed retreat. A mix of materials—mirrors, wood, stone, glass, and metallic accents—adds layers of texture and character.
Throughout the home, the material palette plays a crucial role in shaping its aesthetic. Glass, natural stone, and textured finishes create an exterior that is both striking and timeless, while the interiors maintain a balance between elegance and comfort. Grand double doors welcome guests into an interior where every corner tells a story.
Harmony House is a testament to legacy, family, and thoughtful design. By integrating modern elements with deep-rooted traditions, it stands as a benchmark for contemporary multi-generational living in India.
