Interior design duo Sachin and Neha Gupta of Beyond Designs have designed an 8,000 sq ft beach house in Goa for Delhi-based homeowners. Set against the serene backdrop of Coco Beach, this four-storey villa reflects a blend of Mediterranean inspiration with Beyond Designs’ signature classic contemporary style.Â
The villa was originally planned as a typical city home, but Sachin and Neha reimagined the space to reflect the laid-back, tranquil vibe of Goa, incorporating elements of Goan-Portuguese architecture. This transformation was essential in creating a home that is at once luxurious and in harmony with its surroundings.
The designers opted for a pared-down color palette—primarily whites and blues—to mimic the Mediterranean style, while subtle classic details, textural accents, and thoughtfully curated artworks lend the home an air of refinement. The result is a space that feels expansive yet intimate, with natural materials like marble, wood, and local stone bringing warmth and authenticity to every corner.
Built on stilts, the beach house’s ground floor was converted into a dining room, bar lounge, and courtyard, offering views of lush greenery. The lowest level of the villa boasts two sea-facing bedrooms with private balconies, and even the ensuite bathrooms feature outdoor bathtubs nestled within a canopy of trees, offering a secluded retreat.
On the next floor, a voluminous double-height formal living room takes center stage, with a grand carved wooden panel forming the feature wall. Light-colored furnishings and a mosaic stone coffee table in blue and white add a nautical flair, balancing boldness with elegance. A nearby mezzanine, constructed entirely of timber, serves as a play area for the family’s children, with a spiral staircase enhancing the sense of fun and movement within the space.
The homeowners’ suite is a study in serene blues, furnished with a stately four-poster bed and ornate wooden-framed mirrors, complemented by modern white nightstands. The ensuite bathroom’s striped flooring, made from local pink and white stones, is a standout feature, reflecting the designers’ love for blending traditional materials with contemporary aesthetics.
One level up reveals a cozy bedroom with a private lounge and balcony, while the top floor offers a wooden deck and an infinity pool that seemingly merges with the vast blue expanse of the sea. This final touch ensures the villa truly takes full advantage of its breathtaking coastal location.
One of the villa’s most distinctive features is its vibrant mustard-orange staircase, which connects all four levels of the home. The staircase, much like the villa itself, is a bold yet thoughtful design element that ties the house together. Family photographs and artwork—some customized by Beyond Designs, others collected by the Malhans during their travels—are displayed throughout the home, adding a personal touch and making this luxurious villa feel like a true family retreat.
