A 980 Sq Ft Residence in Navi Mumbai That Balances Warmth and Modernity – The Mint Glow

Nestled in Navi Mumbai, The Mint Glow is a serene and minimalist residence designed by SAGI Architects for a family of three. Spanning 980 square feet, this apartment occupies the 7th floor, offering expansive views of the tranquil salt pans and lush greenery, creating a peaceful living environment. The design features a contemporary aesthetic, blending simple geometric elements with rich textures and bold statement furniture, achieving a delicate balance between form and function.

The home caters to a couple and their nine-year-old son, with a design brief that emphasizes both their love for entertaining and the need for a family-friendly space. The objective was to craft an environment that would seamlessly blend their social and personal lives while providing a playful yet refined space for their child. SAGI Architects responded to this vision with an open-plan layout, thoughtfully chosen color schemes, and finishes that create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The floor plan is organized to facilitate both private moments and social gatherings, with an open living and dining area that allows for easy interaction with guests. A passage from the living room leads to the bedrooms and a cozy den. The living room features mint green walls complemented by a brown wallpapered accent wall behind the sofa, providing a neutral canvas for art. Chic beige sofas, an olive-green accent chair, and warm-toned veneer paneling introduce layers of texture and contrast.

The kitchen is another central feature of the home. With the clients’ shared passion for cooking and hosting, the kitchen was designed to be both a social and functional space. Situated adjacent to the dining area, it has an open, spacious layout that ensures easy movement. A fluted glass and metal partition offers a subtle division, providing privacy without disrupting the sense of openness.

The breakfast counter, crafted from neutral-toned quartz stone with a contrasting wooden panel, quickly becomes a favorite spot for guests, blending seamlessly into the rest of the space when not in use. The same material palette is carried through to the dining console and a cleverly carved counter space in the passage, which conceals a cast-in basin without compromising on the aesthetic appeal. The dining table top in glossy black stone creates a contrast with the beige-toned quartz countertops of the kitchen and console. The dining chairs upholstered in cobalt blue and grey add a pop of color to the room.

The master bedroom adheres to the home’s minimalist theme, featuring a neutral palette of blues and soft wood tones. The deep blue leather headboard, accented with tan leather straps and piping, adds a touch of sophistication. Neutral floral wallpaper and a picture window create a serene backdrop for the bed, while carefully selected upholstery and accessories introduce subtle hues to add visual interest.

The children’s room adopts a more mature design approach, with a color scheme dominated by shades of blue, highlighted by a bold splash of red on the uniquely shaped headboard. The podium bed, finished in black veneer, creates a striking contrast with the lighter tones of the room. A matching black veneer is used on the door frames, contributing to a cohesive aesthetic. Subtle pops of color and playful designs appear in the upholstery, lighting fixtures, and curtains, yet the overall design maintains a sophisticated tone, offering a more refined approach to a child’s room rather than the typical bold colors and patterns.

The clients desired a space within their den that would cater to their work-from-home needs. The architects addressed this by incorporating a study ledge that seamlessly integrates with the TV console, accompanied by suspended shelves above. These shelves provide a perfect display area for treasured art pieces collected during the clients’ travels. The room features dark grey carpeted flooring and neutral floral wallpapered walls, which are beautifully complemented by the rich brown veneer of the shelves and console. Despite its compact dimensions, the room exudes comfort and warmth, with every detail meticulously curated.
